Day 2 - Beijing
Slept really late last night and we woke up to a misty morning. After breakfast, Uncle Guo Ji tried out Mark's motorcycle. He said it felt so nostalgic as that was how he used to pick Aunty Cuc up 30 years ago when they were still dating. So Cool.
Had lunch at 永和街. Really good vegetarian restaurant there called 餘香齋. Then the Dharma Masters went off while we went to 秀水街 for shopping. I didn't buy anything but it really surprised me how prices are not fixed in every store. Aunty Kup said its all in your bargaining skills. What amazed me even more was that all the sales girls could speak 4-5 different lanaguages. I've heard Spanish, Russian, English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and a variety of other unidentified languages. Its the UN over there. Lolz
Went to 西單 at night with Mark. There's a huge 77th street plaza there. Lots of clothes for the younger crowd. Pretty much like far east plaza in Singapore. And we met up with Daniel there! My Russian friend who speaks perfect Chinese! Always love to hear him speak Chinese. The guys selling the Taiwanese 抓餅 also had a fun time selling to Daniel. We went back to the hotel to hang out for a while before Daniel headed home.
